The SoundEar 3-320 is usually wall mounted, using the mounting plate and security screw that are included. As long as there is a power outlet nearby and a surface that can accept four mounting screws, there are few limitations on the physical location of the device. The most important consideration is that it is in the most suitable position to measure the noise levels.
The installation consists of the following steps (also covered in the user manual):
An optional microphone extension cable can be used to mount the microphone away from the unit itself.
The SE3-320 comes complete with a plug-top power adapter. This provides the safe low voltage that the noise sign requires.
The SoundEar 3 has been developed for use in areas that need high electrical safety, such as hospitals. This optional P-SE3-MED power adapter is approved in accordance with IEC 60601-1 (medical electrical equipment).
Extension Power Cable - The power adapter that is included uses a 5V USB style cable. This is convenient as both power supply and cable are readily available if they need replacing. However, USB cables are not suitable for more than a few metres. If you need to run power for a longer distance then you need the PSU24DC power adapter with one or more POWEX10 extension cables. This can be found in the Parts tab at the bottom of this page, or on the Options page.
Installation of the outdoor version of the noise processor is slightly different, but just as straight forward. It uses just four screws to mount to the wall. The type of screw used depends on the surface being mounted to (wood, brick, etc.)
You can read more about installation on the Outdoor Noise Processor page.
