Designed primarily for occupational noise measurement, the CEL630 measures the "A" and "C" weighted average sound level simultaneously, along with both Fast and Slow time response. This means there is no need to decide what parameters are needed before making a measurement, just press go and everything is stored. This meter also has a single measurement range from 20 to 140dB, so you don't even have to select the range before starting.

Octave and 1/3 Octave Band Filters

The meter can be fitted with Octave or 1/3 Octave Band Filters. For occupational noise measurements Octave Band Filters are the most common, as these measurements can be used to make a more accurate calculation of the sound level at the ear when wearing different hearing protectors.

Octave band filters are not essential for occupational noise measurements and are not required by most standards, including OSHA. However, we recommend the use of Octave Band measurements for extremely high noise levels as this is the most accurate way to assess the suitability of the hearing protectors available.

The 1/3 Octave Band Filter option is useful if you need to make a more detailed frequency analysis of machinery noise, particularly where tonal noise is a problem. Meters fitted with 1/3 Octave Bands also have single Octave Bands.

Data Logging and Insight Software

The CEL630 comes complete with data logging capability. Measurements are stored in the meter's internal memory. When connected to a Windows computer, the meter acts like a memory card (shows as a removable drive) so the measurements can be loaded into a spreadsheet (using a small conversion application) or moved to your hard drive for long term storage. There is no need to buy special software.

If you want a little more than just loading the measurements into a spreadsheet then the Insight software simplifies the process of downloading the measurements, storing them in a database, managed by person, place or process criteria.
